Bank der kleinen Terebrateln, Upper Muschelkalk, Schwabish Hall (Triassic of Germany)

Where: Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany (49.2° N, 9.8° E: paleocoordinates 15.4° N, 17.8° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• local area-level geographic resolution

When: Muschelkalk Group, Ladinian (242.0 - 237.0 Ma)

• Discoceratite Zone. 1.2-1.4 m thick. Upper Muschelkalk Subgroup

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; concretionary, shelly/skeletal, silty rudstone

• Irregularly bedded, nodular microsparitic biorudites with mud- and silt-streaks. In the lowest and uppermost parts of the unit, mudstone lenses reach several cm in thickness. These parts are characterized by strongly bioturbated, poorly sorted wackestones, whereas the middle part of the unit is dominated by packstones which show several levels with varying particle sizes and packing densities and are generally poor in mud.

Size class: macrofossils
