When: Continental Intercalaire Formation, Barremian to Barremian (129.4 - 100.5 Ma)

• Beds are not easily dated but studies in the last few years agree that beds exposed in Tunisia are likely Barremian–Albian. See Fanti et al. 2012; Hamed et al. 2014; Fanti et al. 2016; Holwerda 2020

Environment/lithology: terrestrial; sandy, calcareous conglomerate

• "Above them is a conglomerate of varying thickness from 10 and 30 cm, which is the real treasure layer. However, the lower 2-4 cm contain fine to medium sand as main components. The conglomerate is highly strengthened, wherein the matrix is calcareous in part."
