Well 1-SPS-9 Miocene (Miocene to of Brazil)

Where: Brazil (26.4° S, 45.3° W: paleocoordinates 26.2° S, 42.5° W)

• coordinate estimated from map

When: Middle Miocene to Middle Miocene (16.0 - 5.3 Ma)

• "The well was terminated in Albian(?) evaporites and ranges upwards into Recent sediments (Figure 2). The well below 3000 m consists essentially of Coniacian to Campanian alternating sandstones and siltstones with occasional limestones (Hubbard and Wild 1979), but most of our samples are from the upper half of the well, which has much finer sediments of mudstones to silty sandstones (Figure 3)."
