Environment/lithology: offshore; lithified, fine-grained limestone

• The Akkuyu Fm. consists of finely stratified mudstones containing a pelagic marine fauna of the Upper Jurassic age. Both the thickness and the color changes, from 200m of white, marly limestones to less than 40 m of black bituminous shales. 4 km WSW of Derebucak the Akkuyu Formation is represented by its more usual clearer facies. Occurence in a fine-grained limestone.
