Where: Nigeria (8.9° N, 12.0° E: paleocoordinates 5.8° S, 4.8° E)

When: Sekule Formation, Coniacian (89.8 - 86.3 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Sekule Fm, which overlies the Jessu Fm (Late Turonian), and is overlain by the Numanha Shales (Campanian). AGE: Coniacian, on the basis of ammonite biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From unknown position within the formation of around 900 ft thick.

Environment/lithology: offshore; lithified, gray, green shale and lithified, shelly/skeletal limestone

• ENVIRONMENT: Presumably an offshore siliciclastic marine facies.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Pale, greenish-grey shales with many thin bands of limestone. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, on the basis of facies description.
