Taxonomic list

• The fauna is overwhelmingly composed of trilobites and ostracods (about 90 per cent), clearly less frequent are brachiopods (about 8 per cent) and rare echinoderms (columnalia, small thecae of Mespilocystites), hyolithids and machaeridians (about 2 per cent altogether). At this locality cyclopygid trilobites are extremely frequent and clearly dominate the fauna. In fact, the trilobite association, which was partly described by Hammann and Leone (1997), consists largely of pelagic genera (Amphitryon, Cyclopyge, Symphysops, Taklamakania, Telephina) as well as many blind benthic genera (Nankinolithus, Paraphillipsinella, Shumardia, Ulugtella), indicating a deep offshore environment.
