Sample 89-EB-22, Dauki River (Eocene of Bangladesh)

Where: Bangladesh (25.2° N, 92.0° E: paleocoordinates 5.9° N, 83.8° E)

• coordinate estimated from map

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Kopili Formation, Bartonian (41.3 - 38.0 Ma)

• Morozovella spinulosa, Assilina sp. and Pellatispira sp. in the Kopili Formation immediately overlying the Sylhet Limestone indicate an age range of 38–39 Ma.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: shoreface; poorly lithified, bioturbated, sandy siltstone

• Dark gray to black siltstone and sandy siitstone interbedded with sandstone. The Kopili Formation exposed along the Dauki River includes several beds of oyster shell hash or coquina, with a high proportion of shell debris and sandy matrix and a low proportion of silt or clay. Several of the siltstone beds have symmetrical wave ripples, and some have grazing traces.
