When: Lower Fars Formation, Early/Lower Miocene (23.0 - 16.0 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From the Asmari Limestone, which regionally overlies the Asmari Limestone, and is overlain by the Middle Fars Fm. AGE: Early Miocene, on the basis of macrofossil similarity to Burdigalian and Upper Gaj strata. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From basal "gypsum beds" of formation.
