Tellian bed 3 (Triassic of Tunisia)

Where: Banzart, Tunisia (37.3° N, 9.9° E: paleocoordinates 6.0° N, 11.0° E)

When: Bechateur Formation, Carnian (237.0 - 228.0 Ma)

• 30m of limestone have been assigned to Ladinian-Carnian by Salaj and Bajanid, 1972. They overthrust Ypresian limestones towards the SW by may have been stratigraphically superposed to siliciclastics (Anisian ?), presently not visible. These Triassic limestones (herein called 'Bechateur Formation'), alternatively microrhythmic, are interrupted by three successive key-beds

• group of beds-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: marine; limestone

• remarkable condensed section (1m) including three main centimetric shelly limestone (lag of tempestite ?) which contain lots of pelecypods
