Ferganea-Lithophaga comm. - Bashibulake Fm, Mbr 3 (Eocene of China)

Where: Xinjiang, China (41.0° N, 84.0° E: paleocoordinates 41.1° N, 78.8° E)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: 3 Member (Bashibulake Formation), Late/Upper Eocene (37.2 - 33.9 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From Member 3 of the Bashibulake Fm, which overlies the Wulagen Fm (upper Middle Eocene) and is overlain by the upper members of the Bashibulake Fm (Late Eocene-Early Oligocene). AGE: Late Eocene. Justification not stated, but presumably through macrofossil and microfossil biostratigraphy. Pollen present. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From bed within Member 3, within the middle part of the formation.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: shallow subtidal; lithified, silty mudstone

• ENVIRONMENT: Normal sea facies under the environment of the subtidal zone.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Silty mudstone and shelly marl. LITHIFICATION: Not stated, presumably poorly-lithified on the basis of facies.

Size class: macrofossils

Reposited in the NIGPAS

Collection methods: bulk,

• COLLECTOR: Not stated, but presumably X. Lan and J. M. Wei (1980's). REPOSITORY: Probably Nanjing Inst. of Geol. and Pal., Academia Sinica.
