Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:ooidal "limestone"
Lithology description: "The Taynton Stone was recognised by its characteristic lithology as well as by its stratigraphical position. It is richly fossiliferous, but the fauna is the Corbula-Tancredia assemblage typical of current-bedded oolites in general and is of little help in determining the horizon. Typically the rock is a cream-coloured coarse oolite with abundant shell-fragments arranged in wisps, scattered marl pellets and some diffuse marly patches." (Green & Melville 1956)
Environment:carbonate indet.
