• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: Akarana Supergroup, Waitakere Group, Manukau Subgroup, Nihotupu Formation, Wairere Member (Hayward 1976b). AGE: The Wairere Member conformably overlies andesite Maori Bay pillow lavas dated at 16.8 Ma (Bandy et al. 1970), indicating early mid-Altonian (Late Burdigalian). STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From 15 m up cliff face.
