Lithology description: "Occurs as small banks in gray and dark gray, medium-beddedc, commonly coarsely nodular limestones...interbedded with thin beds of marl, argillite and shale commonly packed with Didymothyris didyma..."
Environment:marine indet.
Geology comments: "...soft ground, rough water unit. Most shells disarticulated. C. u. Comm. probably lived closer to shoreline than contemporary C. orthocephalum and C. novosemellicum Comm's. becaus it occurs in sediment with a higher terrigenous component. Assigned to BA 2 becaus interbedded with Didymothyris didyma Comm., [although this could reflect intertonguing of BA 2 and BA 3]."
