Stratigraphy

Stratigraphy comments: STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From unknown lithostratigraphic unit. Appear to have no faunal compositional similarity to the Miria Formation (Maastrichtian) from nearby, so possibly a different unit. AGE: Maastrichtian, on the basis of ammonite biostratigraphy. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From 5 ft thic sandstone that is overlain by limestones, 85 ft in thickness (formerly assumed to be Campanian). |

Lithology description: SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Glauconitic sandstone. LITHIFICATION: Lithified, on the basis of figured specimens. | |
Environment: | coastal indet. |
Geology comments: ENVIRONMENT: No environmental data reported. Presumably from a shallow marine siliciclastic setting. |
