Geological group:Colorado Formation:Westgate
Local section:Anderson Husky Roros Local bed:494.40 m
Local order:top to bottom
Stratigraphic resolution:bed
Stratigraphy comments: Miliammina manitobensis Zone (Caldwell et al., 1978); meters indicate depth at which sample was taken
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:bioturbation lithified "shale"
Lithology description: bioturbated shale
Environment:offshore Tectonic setting:foreland basin
Glacial or sequence phase:transgressive
Geology comments: extension of Mowry Sea, during late Albian (slight regression in late Late Albian), moderatly to well oxygenated bottom-waters; shallow wave influenced sea of inner nertic to possibly middle neritic depth
Taphonomy
Size of fossils:microfossils
Collection methods and comments
Collection excludes:some macrofossils
Collection methods:core,chemical,smear slide,field collection
Minimum sieve size:0.020 Maximum sieve size:0.065
Reason for describing collection:general faunal/floral analysis
Museum repositories:GSC
Collection method comments: foraminiferal analysis utilizing the method of Then and Dougherty (1983) and washed over a 0.065 mm sieve; nannofossils were analyzed using the techniques from Edwards (1963), Stover (1966), Gartner (1968) and Smith (1981); standard acid processing techniques (Barss and Williams, 1973) were used followed by heavy liquid flotation and sieving to concentrate the dinoflagellates in the >0.045 and the 0.020-0.045 mm fractions
Taxonomic list comments:poorly preserved specimens of foraminifera, which are not unequivocally identifiable, are not included in the total counts
