Stratigraphy
Formation: | Nyalindung
Stratigraphic resolution: | group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: Formerly referred to as Nyalindung Mbr of Cimandiri Fm (Sukamoto, 1990). Overlying Jampang Fm. THICKNESS: From <1 m thick bed within <3 m section; total composite section thickness is estimated at around 40 m. AGE: Age still debated, but most evidence, including molluscan and foraminiferal biostratigraphy suggest a Middle Miocene age. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From upper part of cycle 7 near base of the Nyalindung Fm. |
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: | fine poorly lithified silty sandstone |
Includes fossils? | Y |
Lithology description: SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Muddy fine sandstone. LITHIFICATION: Poorly lithified, based on figured specimens (some from unlithified sediments, most from poorly-lithified sediments).
Environment: | coastal indet. |
Glacial or sequence phase: | regressive |
Geology comments: SEQUENCE STRATIGRAPHY: From upper part of regressive systems tract. |
