Stratigraphy
Geological group:Tokarahi Formation:Tapui Glauconitic Sandstone Member:Gardiner Greensand
Stratigraphic resolution:bed
Stratigraphy comments: STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS: From Gardiner Greensand Mbr of the Tapui Glauconitic Sand Fm, immediately overlying the Kauru Fm (Teurian), and overlain locally by Raki Siltstone (Kaiatan). AGE: Bortonian of Gage (1957) = late Lutetian-Bartonian. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION: From lower member within the formation.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:coarse,concretionary,ferruginous,glauconitic lithified sandstone
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Concretionary glauconitic sandstone. Coarse pure greensand which weathers to a hard limonitic sandstone. LITHIFICATION: Presumably lithified, based on facies description (detailed in Gage 1957) and age.
Environment:offshore
Geology comments: ENVIRONMENT: Deposited in still water beyond reach of strong wave action.

Collection method comments: COLLECTOR: Collected by various authors, which may include: Marwick (1924-1944), Laws (1930-1941), and Powell (1942). REPOSITORY: New Zealand Geological Survey (now GNS Science, Lower Hutt, New Zealand).
Taxonomic list comments:COVERAGE: Exhaustive for bivalvia, gastropoda, and brachiopoda. IDENTIFIER: J.A. Marwick and O.P Olson(NZGS). NOMENCLATURE: Somewhat antiquated but identified by specialist and often to subgeneric and species resolution.
