Stratigraphy
Formation: | New Bern | ||||
Stratigraphic resolution: | group of beds | ||||
Stratigraphy comments: "New Bern Formation" of Powell & Baum, 1982. Crassatella alta/Chlamys cawcawensis bivalve or Periarchus lyelli echinoid zone. Spring Garden member is latest Claibornian (latest middle Eocene) according to Weaver& Ciampaglio (2003). PJW: I switched this to New Bern. I also changed it to Priabonian from Bartonian. The upper part of the Crassatella alta - Chlamys cawcawensis zone is Priabonian, so this is not inconsistent with the original paper. |
