Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:brown,gray silty mudstone
Secondary lithology:burrows,fine sandstone
Lithology description: Description. Heavily rooted, grey/brown, silty mudstone with an incipient nodular texture containing abundant large Podozamites and long and short Pityphyllum leaves, Birisia fronds, and Equisetites. This passes up into coals with ironstone nodules. The ironstones contain abundant Podozamites. These pass up into sandstones with burrows. Long-leafed Pityophyllum occurred in fine-grained sandstones below the siltstone. Sample 96 RAS 116 represents Pityophyllum from the sandstones. Interpretation. Vegetated floodplain environment.
