Stratigraphy
Stratigraphy comments: Horizon sample from drill core. Gregory and Hart (1995a, pollen and spores) do not recognize the Clairbornian in the core, but in Gregory and Hart (1995, dinoflagellates), they do. Both papers look at the same samples from the same core and derive different age assignments because they treat each independently. RAL elected to enter a uniform age assignment for both papers.
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: siltstone
Secondary lithology: "shale"
Lithology description: 50 siltstone and shale samples used in the study by Gregory (1991)
Environment:deltaic indet. Tectonic setting:passive margin
Glacial or sequence phase:regressive
Geology comments: ...due to a decrease in sediment supply in late Sabian, the style of deltaic sedimentation changed from fluvial-dominated to wave-dominated, shelf-edge deltas (Lowery 1987)
