Stratigraphy
Stratigraphic resolution:group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: "The siltstones from which the fauna was collected lie about 120 m above the base of the Silurian...they appear to belong to King's (1928) horizon V2c. The present investigation supports Williams (1951) age assement [high Lower Llandovery; A3-4].
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology:burrows lithified siltstone
Environment:marine indet.
Geology comments: Blue siltstone with interbedded micaceous layers. Fossils preserved mostly as moulds with occasionally-retained shell material.
Taphonomy
Modes of preservation:body
Collection methods and comments
Collection excludes:some macrofossils
Collection methods:bulk,mechanical,field collection
Reason for describing collection:taxonomic analysis
Taxonomic list comments:"In addition to the brachs and trilobites...there are also bryozoans, corals (often encrusting brachs), crinoid columnals, gastropods and ostracods. Burrows passing obliquely through the sed layers are common."
