Stratigraphy
Formation:Lojoping
Stratigraphic resolution:formation
Stratigraphy comments: Except where otherwise stated, ref. 7624 uses Lower Silurian as equivalent to Llandovery, Middle Silurian as equivalent to Wenlock, and Upper Silurian as equivalent to Ludlow plus Pridoli. Originally Lojoping had a broader usage, but is herein restricted to the upper part (Lojoping Fm. s.s. of Mu En-zhi et al. 1979). "The upper part of the L. Fm. has yielded Stricklandia transversa which has cardinalia intermediate in type between S. progressa and S. ultima, which suggets and Early Late Llandovery age (Rong and Yang, 1977). The lower part of the L. Fm. contains a number of graptolites, such as Monoclimacis arcuata, suggestive of an age in the upper part of the Zone of Monograptus sedgwickii...The upper part of the L. Fm., therefore, is of Early Late Llandovery age." (Correlated with turriculatus Zone on chart.)
Lithology and environment
