Stratigraphy
Formation: | Lower Buntsandstein
Local section: | Tumlin-Podgrodzie IG1 | Local bed: | A1-a
Local order: | bottom to top
Stratigraphic resolution: | group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: The following lithological complexes are distinguished within the Lower Buntsandstein: A0, A1 and B. The A1 complex is formed by reddisch brown, sandy and muddy deposits eith conglomerates and coarse sandstone at the bottom. In the top siltstones and mudstones with wavy sedimentary structures dominate. |
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: | wave ripples, red or brown siltstone |
Secondary lithology: | wave ripples, red or brown mudstone |
Lithology description: The A1 complex is formed by reddisch brown, sandy and muddy deposits eith conglomerates and coarse sandstone at the bottom. In the top siltstones and mudstones with wavy sedimentary structures dominate.
Environment: | marine indet. |
Geology comments: The Holy Cross Mountains belonged to the costal zone of he Germanic basin during the Late Permian and Upper Triassic. Terefore some members of the Zechstein and Buntsandstein lithological sections are missing or reduced in comparison to the deeper part of the basin. |
