Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: | "cross stratification",shelly/skeletal grainstone |
Secondary lithology: | "shale" |
Includes fossils? | Y |
Lithology description: Facies 5: biocalcarenite with calcilutite matrix and shows gradations from mud-supported to grain-supported texture. Pellets, crinoid ossicles, brachiopod fragments, sponge spicules. Thin tabular beds throughout. Shale layers 1 cm thick or less between limestone beds. Facies 6: Crinoideal biosparrudite and coarse-grained biocalcarenite. Thin shale layers, but carbonates contain little clay. Biosparrudites grain-supported. Cross lamination of both planar and trough form. | |
Environment: | marine indet. |
Geology comments: Present in facies 5 and 6. Interpreted as shallow shelf with high energy. F6 includes shoal lime sand. Carbonate interruption of shoaling upwards sequence of terrigenous sediments. Bank system. |
