Lithology description: Limestone, medium- to coarse-grained ; dark gray to black, weathering dark gray ; massive beds as much as 1 foot thick, nodular bedding planes ; crinoid columnals as much as 0.25 inch in diameter, prominent spiriferid brachiopods. Sample B-1357, 2.5 per cent insoluble residue of gray clay with clear, rounded quartz sand grains and silicified fossil fragments ; texture of fossil frag ments, chiefly columnals, comprising 75 per cent of roek in matrix of fine grained calcite ; no microlaminae. | |||
