Stratigraphy comments: Located at least 25 m below the contact between the Blue Hill Shale Member and Fort Hays Member (i.e., within the bottom half of the Blue Hill Shale). An ammonite Collignoniceras percarinatum (Hall and Meek, 1856) is reported from “the middle part of the Carlile Shale” in Dixon County (Kennedy et al., 2001, fig. 48), that dates the Blue Hill Shale (Fig. 1A) to the Middle Turonian.
