| Stratigraphy comments: Layer G, a mixed calcareous and volcanic sand deposit represents Phase II of the Hanamiai sequence. A single wood charcoal sample from a hearth in Layer G provides an age estimate of 870+/-80 years BP, which is statistically inseparable from the three dates for Phase I. This suggests that both Phases I and II occurred during a time period spanning no more than 300 years, perhaps even less than 200 years. | |||||
