Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: sandstone
Includes fossils?Y
Lithology description: "Facies Ittiri-A is composed of a meter of fine, massive sandstone with very abundant calcareous algae remains that form 30% of the rock. Macrofossils are very abundant and include the irregular echinoids Clypeaster and Echinolampas and densely packed pectinid and oyster shells, without preferred orientation. When overlain by Facies Ittiri-B, contact is sharp."
Environment:transition zone/lower shoreface
Geology comments: "moderate- to low-energy sublittoral environment"
