Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: | sandstone |
Includes fossils? | Y |
Lithology description: "Facies Ittiri-A is composed of a meter of fine, massive sandstone with very abundant calcareous algae remains that form 30% of the rock. Macrofossils are very abundant and include the irregular echinoids Clypeaster and Echinolampas and densely packed pectinid and oyster shells, without preferred orientation. When overlain by Facies Ittiri-B, contact is sharp." | |
Environment: | transition zone/lower shoreface |
Geology comments: "moderate- to low-energy sublittoral environment" |
