Stratigraphy comments: Based on planktonic foraminifera, the upper member of the Fujina (=Huzina) Formation is assigned to N10-11 of Blow's zones (14.6/14.8-12.4 Ma) (Nomura & Maiya, 1984). Age constrained to N11 planktonic foraminifera zone by Yanagisawa (1990). Base of overlying Matsue Formation dated around 11.5-11.9 Ma by Shikano & Nagano (1985).
