Paleocoordinates:45.8° South, 55.5° West
Basis of coordinate:based on nearby landmark
Geographic resolution:outcrop
Time
Period:Paleogene Epoch:Eocene
Key time interval:Early/Lower Eocene - Middle Eocene Mammal zone: Sapoan
Age range of interval:56.00000 - 37.71000 m.y. ago
Stratigraphy
Geological group:Río Chico
Stratigraphic resolution:group of beds
Stratigraphy comments: Stratigraphic correlations of this locality are unclear. Tejedor et al. (2009: Am. Museum Novitates 3638) note that it shares taxa with the "Sapoan" SALMA/Paso del Sapo local fauna, but also taxa from the Itaboraian of Canadon Hondo. This suggests an Early to Middle Eocene date.

Primary lithology: sandstone
Environment:terrestrial indet.
Taphonomy
Modes of preservation:body
Size of fossils:macrofossils,mesofossils
Collection methods and comments
Collection methods:survey of museum collection
Reason for describing collection:taxonomic analysis
Taxonomic list comments:Simpson (1935) writes that "there are several interesting specimens collected by A.F. Bordas, in the Museo Argentino, not yet described." These may still be unpublished.
