Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: | grainstone |
Lithology description: Carbonates consisting of grey wacke-packstones include interbeds of few centimetre-thick layers of densely packed bioclastic grainstones. Common fossils were fragmented crinoids, bryozoans, brachiopods, corals and cephalopods (restricted to this interval). | |
Environment: | shallow subtidal indet. |
Geology comments: Grainstones were found to range from bioclasts with little or no micritisatio to coated grains wherein the rim is extensively micritized around the entire grain. The first of these accords with rather rapid cementation of components after breakage and deposition. Components are crinoid stem plates with subordinate skeletal grains of brachiopods and bryozoans. Peloids are sparse or even lacking. |
