Stratigraphy
Lithology and environment
Primary lithology: "mixed carbonate-siliciclastic"
Lithology description: The deposits of St-Gérand-le-Puy generally consist of calcareous sediments of fluvial and limnic origin (see, e.g., DePietri et al., 2011, J. Vert. Paleont. 31(4)).
Environment:fluvial-lacustrine indet. Tectonic setting:rift
Geology comments: The deposits of St-Gérand-le-Puy are part of the infill of the Limagne Basin, a rift basin the origin of which is related to the alpine orogeny. Sedimentation took place "under more or less humid" climatic conditions (DePietri et al., 2011).
Original environment entry >>marine indet.<< has been changed accordingly. (TL)
