Taxonomy
Tornatellaea vacavillensis was named by Palmer (1923) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; California.]. Its type specimen is UCCIP 30610, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is UCMP 3573 - NW of Vacaville, which is in a Ypresian offshore shale in California.
