Archimediella was named by Sacco (1895) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo R Sepkoski's reference number: 614].

It was reranked as Turritella (Archimediella) by Harzhauser (2002) and van den Hoek Ostende et al. (2002).

It was assigned to Turritellidae by Bohm (1926), Marasti (1973) and Shuto (1974); to Turritella by Harzhauser (2002) and van den Hoek Ostende et al. (2002); to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Turritellinae by Wilson (1993), Allmon (1996) and Bouchet et al. (2005).
