Taxonomy
Tacuaremborum oblongum was named by Mones (1980). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is MIG unnumbered, an egg, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Yaguarí Arroyo, which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Asencio Formation of Uruguay.

It was recombined as Tacuarembovum oblongum by Mones (1980), Faccio (1994) and Mones (1997).
