Turritella acuminata was named by Goldfuss (1832). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Melania acuminata by Goldfuss (1844); it was recombined as Chemnitzia acuminata by Keyserling (1846); it was recombined as Meekospira acuminata by Reed (1944); it was recombined as Palaeostylus acuminatus by Wagner (2023); it was recombined as Loxonema acuminatum by de Koninck (1881), Perner (1907), Gromczakiewicz-Łomnicka (1973) and Wagner (2023).
