Calamosaurus foxi

Taxonomy
Calamospondylus foxi was named by Lydekker (1889). Its type specimen is BMNH R.901, a set of vertebrae (cervical vertebra), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Isle of Wight (general), which is in a Barremian/Aptian terrestrial horizon in the United Kingdom. It is the type species of Calamospondylus, Calamosaurus.

It was misspelled as Calamospondylus foxii by Nopcsa (1901), Huene (1923), Swinton (1936), Kuhn (1939), Steel (1970), Blows (1983) and Hutt et al. (1996); it was considered a nomen dubium by Naish et al. (2001); it was misspelled as Calamosaurus foxii by Ruiz-Omeñaca and Canudo (2003); it was considered a nomen dubium by Holtz et al. (2004); it was recombined as Calamosaurus foxi by Lydekker (1891), Van Den Broeck (1900), Molnar and Pledge (1980), Naish and Martill (2007) and Naish and Sweetman (2011).
