Halisaurus platyspondylus

Taxonomy
Macrosaurus platyspondylus was named by Marsh (1869). Its type specimen is YPM 444, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Baptosaurus, Halisaurus.

It was recombined as Baptosaurus platyspondylus by Cope (1870), Hay (1902) and Hay (1930); it was recombined as Halisaurus platyspondylus by Marsh (1869), Baird and Case (1966), Russell (1967), Bardet et al. (2005), Fanti et al. (2014) and Driscoll et al. (2019).
