It was corrected as Medoicinia by Sepkoski (2002).
It was assigned to Ziphiidae by Benton (1993); to Squalodelphidae by Muizon (1988) and Muizon (1994); to Hyperoodontidae by McKenna and Bell (1997); to Cetacea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Squalodelphinidae by Fordyce and de Muizon (2001), Geisler and Sanders (2003), Lambert et al. (2014), Bianucci et al. (2015), Marx et al. (2016), Godfrey et al. (2017), Kimura (2018), Bianucci et al. (2018) and Nelson and Uhen (2018).
