Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
M. D. Uhen et al. 2008Kogiidae close to Kogia in size, but whose cranium is longer and less broad; rostrum is long, high and narrow and is flattened like that of Kogia; anterior end is round and broad as in Kogia; base of the rostrum contacts the nasal fossae abruptly and unevenly; antorbital notches are very narrow and parallel to the edges of the rostrum and do not penetrate in the supracranial basin; occiput is stretched towards the back (in lateral view), and does not show the hyperostosis of the alveolar gutter as in Kogia; temporal fossa is much larger than that of Kogia (Muizon, 1988b).
