Taxonomy
Natica limula was named by Conrad (1833) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 12797, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Neverita (Glossaulax) limula by Cossmann (1925); it was recombined as Neverita limula by Conrad (1865), Palmer and Brann (1966) and Kosnik (2002).

  • Natica gibbosa was named by Lea (1833) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; Gulf Coastal Plain.]. Its type specimen is ANSP 5528, a shell, and it is not a trace fossil.

    It was recombined as Neverita gibbosa by Conrad (1865); it was recombined as Natica (Neverita) gibbosa by Cossmann (1925); it was synonymized subjectively with Neverita limula by Palmer and Brann (1966).
