Taxonomy
Hippotragini was named by Sundevall (1845) [in Retzius and Lovén]. It is extant.

It was reranked as the subfamily Hippotraginae by Grubb (2001) and Agnarsson and May-Collado (2008).

It was assigned to Antilopinae by Hassanin and Douzery (1999) and Hassanin and Douzery (2003); to Bovidae by Bouvrain (1998), Grubb (2001) and Agnarsson and May-Collado (2008); and to Hippotraginae by Gentry (2010).
