Alicornops was named by Ginsburg and Guerin (1979). It is not extant.

It was assigned to Aceratheriinae by Prothero and Schoch (1989), Cerdeno (1992) and Codrea (1992); to Aceratheriina by Antoine et al. (2003); and to Aceratheriini by Antoine et al. (2010).
