Taxonomy
Teleoceras major was named by Hatcher (1894) [genotype]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Turtle Canyon, which is in a Clarendonian terrestrial horizon in the Ash Hollow Formation of Nebraska.

It was synonymized subjectively with Teleoceras fossiger by Hay (1902) and Hesse (1935).
