Taxonomy
Bathrodon annectens was named by Marsh (1872). Its type specimen is YPM 11791, a mandible (mandibular fragment with M3), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Microsyops annectens by Osborn (1902), Wortman (1903), Szalay (1969), Gazin (1976) and Gunnell (1989).
