Taxonomy
Ereptodon priscus was named by Leidy (1853). It is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Ereptodon.

It was recombined as Megalonyx priscus by Cope (1899); it was synonymized subjectively with Megalonyx jeffersonii by Lundelius (1972).
