Aphelops mutilus

Taxonomy
Aphelops mutilus was named by Matthew (1924) [named as a subspecies of A. malacorhinus by Matthew 1924; raised to species level (Matthew 1932)]. Its type specimen is AMNH 17584, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Aphelops Draw Quarries, which is in a Hemphillian terrestrial horizon in the Snake Creek Formation of Nebraska.
