  • Alces muswa was named by Richardson (1852). It is extant.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Alces alces by Lydekker (1915).
  • Alces runnymedensis was named by Hay (1923).

    It was synonymized subjectively with Alces alces by Kurten and Anderson (1980).
  • Cervus americanus was named by Clinton (1822) [homonym Cervus americanus Harlan 1825 was made the genotype of Cervalces by Scott 1885; see Cervus scotti]. It is extant. It is the type species of Cervalces.

    It was recombined as Cervalces americanus by Hay (1902); it was recombined as Alces alces americanus by Lydekker (1915); it was synonymized subjectively with Alces alces by Peterson (1955), Peterson (1966) and Churcher (1991).
