Taxonomy
Archaeolagus was named by Dice (1917) [also said to be 1929]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Archaeolaginae by Dawson (1958) and Green (1972); and to Leporidae by Dice (1917) and McKenna and Bell (1997).
