Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
A. van de Weerd et al. 1977A large-sized cricetid with very hysodont molars,M3 reduced, m3 not or only slightly reduced. m1 with one labial fold, M1 with one lingual fold. Lingual and labial folds of all cheek teeth are completely or almost completely opposing. The upper incisor is not grooved. the upper and lower masseteric crests of the lower jaw end below the m2. The anterior edge of the ascending ramus originates at the posterior side of the m2.
Differential diagnosis: B. neglectus is different from living and fossil species of the Gerbillinae in having a not reduced two lobed m3 and in the presence of only one labial fold in the m1 and one lingual fold in the M1 and in the position of the anterior end of the masseteric crests. B. neglectus differs from Epimeriones in its reduced M3 and in the presence of one labial fold in the m1 and one lingual fold in the M1. B. neglectus is different from Trilophomys in having fewer folds.
